Heavily influenced by Stevie Ray Vaughan (SRV), Ruben graces the guitar with his Texas charm to produce a smooth blend of blues, Latin and soul.
He is self-taught and learned to play guitar old school style by listening to 45s. After going on the road to tour at 15 and suffering the tragic loss of a band mate, it was seeing SRV in concert that helped him find his mojo again and ultimately the catalyst that drove him back to writing and playing.
With 22 albums under his belt and a 40 year body of work, his discography and credentials speak for themselves. He has been awarded the title of “Best Guitar Player” by the city of San Antonio, his current residence, four times as well as “Best Songwriter” and “Best Blues Band.”
